CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

An inside perspective

After South Tyneside became the first local authority to be inspected under new joint targeted inspections for children and young people, Martin Swales shares how the council prepared and what other chief executives can learn from its example

New Joint Targeted Area Inspections of services for vulnerable children and young people (JTAI) launched earlier this year. The inspections provide a comprehensive picture of how several agencies work together in an area to ensure children are safe.
