Being in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons is not best place to find yourself in the run-up to an election: Sir Michael Wilshaw must be considering his future, and the future for Ofsted, in more ways than one.

At the recent Festival of Education at the Institute of Education, Natalie Bennett, the leader of the Green Party, put the abolition of Ofsted at the top of her list of education reforms. None of the major parties on the panel agreed, but they are all discussing their own plans for the regulator.
