The Government has insisted hundreds of thousands of pounds spent by councils bidding for investment zones ‘has not been wasted’.

The Government has insisted hundreds of thousands of pounds spent by councils bidding for investment zones ‘has not been wasted'.

After nearly 100 expressions of interest from councils – each costing about £50,000 – only 12 are planned to go ahead.
