The SNP leader of Dumfries & Galloway Council has quit after his party’s budget failed to pass.

The SNP leader of Dumfries & Galloway Council has quit after his party's budget failed to pass.

Stephen Thompson announced he was standing down as convener immediately after rival Conservative budget proposals were passed in a council vote.
