Leading the way on diversity and inclusion in Hertfordshire

The shocking murders of George Floyd and Sarah Everard have further strengthened Hertfordshire’s commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion and tackling harassment and abuse, says Owen Mapley.

Since the publication of our refreshed diversity and inclusion strategy in 2020, our work in this area has continued at pace, resulting in us recently being recognised with a Silver TIDEmark by The Employers' Network for Equality and Inclusion who promote equality and inclusion in the workplace, and we are very proud to have progressed from Bronze to Silver in this area as a result of our efforts over the last year.

The events of the past 18 months, including the terrible murders of George Floyd and Sarah Everard, alongside the unacceptably high number of other hate crimes in our society, have brought into sharp focus the inequalities many face on a daily basis. But they have been a catalyst for change and have only strengthened our commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion.
