Learning from Malala

Local government can take inspiration from Birmingham schoolgirl and Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai's amazing courage, incredible determination, empathy and selflessness, writes SOLACE president Mark Rogers.

By the time this article is published the news about Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi jointly winning the Nobel Peace Prize will, in all likelihood, have dropped off the front pages – and probably the inside ones, too.

But I, for one, won't be forgetting either of them in a hurry – something in which I will be helped because Malala is now a citizen of Birmingham and attending one of the city's schools.
