Sir Richard Leese has launched an astonishing broadside at those vying to become Greater Manchester's elected mayor as he ruled himself out of the race. 

The Manchester City Council leader said Labour MP for Bury South, Ivan Lewis, and interim mayor Tony Lloyd had announced their candidacies ‘prematurely'.
