A row between councils and supermarkets over business rates charged on cash machines could be tied up in costly litigation for up to two years, an expert has warned.

The Supreme Court has confirmed it will hear an appeal against an Appeal Court judgement last year that ruled separate rates should not be paid on cash machines outside stores.
