Leicestershire and Rutland to seek level two devolution

A level two devolution deal will be sought after the three authorities involved failed to reach agreement on adopting a mayor.

A level two devolution deal will be sought by Leicestershire CC, Rutland CC and Leicester City Council after they failed to reach agreement on adopting a mayor.

County council leader Nick Rushton had hoped for the area to receive the more far-reaching powers on offer under a level three deal, but these depend on a mayoral governance model.
