Councils have been warned there is 'no excuse' for raising council tax next year by local government minister, Brandon Lewis.

Coming at a time councils begin preparing their final draft budgets for the next financial year, Mr Lewis told the ConservativeHome website the Government had provided funding for a council tax freeze and to put councils on a 'firmer financial footing'.
