LGA calls for child asylum costs to be paid

The Local Government Association has called on the Government to pay the costs of unaccompanied child asylum seekers.

The Local Government Association has called on the Government to pay the costs of unaccompanied child asylum seekers. 

LGA deputy chairman, Cllr David Simmonds, said councils we working together to tackle the crisis, but he said: ‘With around a third of migrants aged under 18, the LGA is calling on government to commit to reimburse the costs in full as the strain on already-stretched children's services budgets risks becoming unsustainable.'
