Local Government Association chair Louise Gittins has been linked with standing in the possible Runcorn and Helsby by-election.

Cllr Gittins, who is also leader of Cheshire West & Chester Council, did not respond to a request for comment after being mentioned as a possible Labour candidate by senior fellow at the Centre for British Politics at Hull University, Michael Crick.
