Councils in England and Wales have called for an overhaul in the way children's services are inspected, calling Ofsted's current approach ‘blinkered'.
Ofsted's proposed revamp of its children's services inspections would fail to assess the contribution of crucial agencies such as health and the police, the Local Government Association (LGA) said today.
The call was made this morning ahead of a summit on child sexual exploitation (CSE) at the headquarters of the LGA, which has described the problem as ‘extremely widespread'.
