Significant and rising internal pressures on caseloads threaten the longer-term sustainability of the Local Government Ombudsman's (LGO) level of service.

The warning was contained in a letter, seen by The MJ, from the chair of the Commission for Local Administration in England, Dr Jane Martin, to chair of the communities and local government committee Clive Betts.
