Liverpool City Council’s mayor Joe Anderson has reluctantly agreed not to stand again for the role after Merseyside Police extended his bail to mid-February.

Liverpool City Council's mayor Joe Anderson has reluctantly agreed not to stand again for the role after Merseyside Police extended his bail to mid-February.

Police are continuing to investigate after arresting Mayor Anderson last month on suspicion of conspiracy to commit bribery and witness intimidation.
