We have achieved a lot in Leeds in the last decade, from record levels of job creation and investment to a reversal of increases in child obesity, children in care and rough sleeping. We set a path for more inclusive growth many years ago and we're closer to showing it can be done, with one of the strongest employment rates in Europe.

But as more people want to commute into our city, we need more investment in our transport infrastructure and more control over bus and train services so they better serve our local communities, especially those who can't afford to run a car, and reduce congestion and pollution. We also need to match the skills of people across our city region to what businesses, public bodies and the third sector need to thrive in the 2020s and to help people who the current system isn't working for achieve their potential. That's why devolution is so important to us and must happen.
