Local government is at least creeping up the agenda

After the King's Speech the sector still needs to work together with a collective voice that ensures the department name change actually means something, says Adele Taylor

As I write this column, the King's Speech has just been delivered setting out the new Government's policy direction and their intentions on the priorities they set out as part of their election manifesto.

One good thing for local government is that we seem to be at least creeping up the agenda from the very start. A department name change might not excite everyone but it does seem to be a clear intention to recognise the crucial part we play in public service delivery.
