London Finance Commission take two

The second London Finance Commission makes the case for greater fiscal devolution in the capital, as Heather Jameson reports.

It is a decade since Sir Michael Lyons produced his seminal work on local government. Originally commissioned in 2004, the remit of the review was broadened before it finally reported in March 2007.

The report changed the face of local government, bringing the concept of ‘place shaping' to the fore and putting the sector at the heart of economic growth.
