Councils in and around the Greater Manchester area came together at a recent roundtable event hosted by the PPMA, APSE and Commercial Services Group to discuss how to solve the workforce crisis facing local government.

As HR professionals working for councils in close geographical proximity, Greater Manchester councils have the advantage of being able to work more closely together to achieve greater outcomes than might be possible for an individual council.  The six opportunities they identified to create joint solutions to shared workforce challenges will hopefully inspire other sets of neighbouring councils to share ideas and opportunities to assist with retention and recruitment.
