Middlesbrough Council has vowed to stand against attempts to weaken the Freedom of Information (FoI) Act amid suggestions ministers could backtrack on overhauling the legislation.

Middlesbrough Council has vowed to stand against attempts to weaken the Freedom of Information (FoI) Act amid suggestions ministers could backtrack on overhauling the legislation.

The council is one of the first to go against the Local Government Association's call for tighter controls on FoI requests, which Smith Square views as a ‘burden'.
