Minister: Mayor and commissioner role could be combined

New directly elected mayors could take over the role of police and crime commissioners (PCCs), home office minister Mike Penning has suggested.

New directly elected mayors could take over the role of police and crime commissioners (PCCs), home office minister Mike Penning has suggested.

Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr Penning said incorporating the PCC role in mayoral devolution had ‘worked really well, especially under this excellent London mayor'.
