Minister shrugs off election concerns

Fears that pressures on elections officials will leave them overwhelmed at the next General Election have been dismissed by local government minister Simon Hoare.

He told the House of Lords constitution committee that ‘horror stories did not come to pass' following the introduction of voter ID requirements in May's local elections and the system was ‘match fit' for ‘scaling up' at a nationwide poll.
