'Mismanaged' LGPS faces funding deficit of £47bn

The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) has an estimated funding deficit of £47bn, latest figures have shown.

The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) has an estimated funding deficit of £47bn, latest figures have shown.

The LGPS advisory board, which published the figure in its second annual report, said it had been ‘actively developing' proposals to tackle the deficit to improve the sustainability of the scheme and its future funding levels.
