Motivations for moving

Author and former director Blair McPherson considers the reasons why a senior manager with long tenure may decide to move on.

In a statement, the board said something along the lines of: ‘We wish to thank x for their dedication and service over a great many years.

'There have been some remarkable successes for which x must take a large share of the credit. However our recent difficulties have been well-documented and the board feels the time has come for new ideas and a fresh approach which would best be deliver by a new senior management team.'
