The remit of the National Audit Office (NAO) should be extended to cover local government, a new report has concluded.

The remit of the National Audit Office (NAO) should be extended to cover local government, a new report has concluded.

Think-tank, the Smith Institute, recommended the move as part of a range of measures to restore confidence in public spending.
