Norfolk County Council elects new leader

Norfolk County Council has appointed Bill Borrett as its new leader, following the resignation of Derrick Murphy.

Norfolk County Council has appointed Bill Borrett as its new leader, following the resignation of Derrick Murphy at the beginning of February.

Borrett - who was elected 40 votes to five - has also been elected as chairman of the council's majority Conservative Group. He was previously deputy leader of the council, and cabinet member for environment, waste and transformation.
