The important omission from the Queen's speech

Sir Stephen Bubb looks at what the key omission was from the recent Queen's speech, and what it means for adult care.

Last week's Queen's Speech provoked a great deal of comment, much of it focusing more on what was left out than what was included.

I was particularly disappointed to see no firm commitment to comprehensive reform of adult social care. In the early days of the coalition, when it was still full of reforming zeal, we were given to expect a full-scale overhaul of our sclerotic social care system, based on the recommendations of Andrew Dilnot's report on the subject.
