One for all and all for one

The path to becoming a unitary authority is beset by many challenges, but five years on, Cllr Martin Tett argues that the rewards ––easing pressure on budgets and services – are well worth the effort.

Considering a major reorganisation of local public services is a colossal undertaking. Here in Buckinghamshire, nearly five years ago, we disbanded the five former councils serving our residents to form the new single unitary – Buckinghamshire Council.

In spite of the hard work and challenges, we believe when making the case for this change, that the many benefits and advantages are clear.
