One year after CSR, Andrew Jupp comments that for councils the challenge of balancing cuts and demands will not get any easier.

Councils are still facing up to the challenges of managing severe cuts in funding and increasing demand on services. But it is not all gloom, says Andrew Jepp

It is a year since chancellor George Osborne unveiled details of his spending review – one of the most severe austerity plans ever – and the Government's intention to shave some £83bn from public spending. No one can deny that the road ahead has not been without its hurdles.
