We need to pause the cheering on social care

The Government’s social care announcement deserves only two hurrahs, says Paul Najsarek. The knock on effect can only be substantially increased costs for local government, he adds.

No-one said it would be easy. Achieving significant reform of Government policy on anything, let alone an issue as complicated and costly as social care, is not a simple endeavour.

First you have to get the issue to be a big enough blip on the ministerial radar that they want to devote some of their heavily limited time and finite political capital to look at the case for change.
