Essex councils have agreed to make clear their interest in exploring devolution in a letter to communities secretary Eric Pickles in the ‘near future'.

Council chief executives, senior officers and leaders from across Essex met in Colchester yesterday to ‘discuss ambitious devolution ideas which could see the transfer of powers and funding from central government to Greater Essex authorities'.
