Local authorities hold the power to boost activity through inclusive parks and playgrounds, says Daniel Goddard.

Physical activity has significant benefits for health and wellbeing, so much so that there are growing calls to put a greater emphasis on movement into the design of our communities.

New Active Design guidance from Sport England sets out how the environments we live, work and socialise in can shape activity choices for everyone. The guidance is based on the foundation principle of ‘activity for all', encouraging people to be active through their everyday lives.
