For some time now, child mental health has been rising up the political agenda. Former Lib Dem care minister, Norman Lamb put the issue centre stage at the party's conference in the autumn and more recently, mental health has featured as a key plank of the West Midlands devolution deal.
A prime candidate for a ‘troubled families' style revolution, local government is well placed to alter the lives of those who suffer. But long before Mr Lamb's crusade – prompted in part by his own son's mental health difficulties – a resilience project in South Tyneside MBC attempted to address the issue.
