The public sector is failing to reduce remuneration even though it could help avoid redundancies, according to new research.

The public sector is failing to reduce remuneration even though it could help avoid redundancies, according to new research from the Hay Group.

The research shows that the public sector has yet to take hard action on reducing its total wage bill, even though staff pay accounts for up to 80% of budgets. It recommends that salary cuts, pay freezes and compulsory leave should all be considered.
