No quick fixes on road to recovery

Andrew Jepp analyses what local government got and lost from the 2014 Budget.

Today was a 'budget for building a resilient economy', according to George Osborne at the despatch box earlier.

Despite being able to update the House on an upward revision in the growth forecast to 2.7% for 2014 and a record amount of people in work, the overriding message was that securing Britain's economic future will require more hard decisions and more hard cuts.
