Rallying for a more balanced Britain

The mayors of Liverpool and Manchester’s ambition for the two city regions to work more closely together was one of the key themes of the annual Heseltine Institute lecture says Susan Jarvis.

Partnership between Liverpool City Region and Greater Manchester was a key theme for this year's Heseltine Institute Annual Lecture. Lord Heseltine and more than 250 people from across the region gathered in Liverpool's St George's Hall to hear metro mayors Steve Rotheram and Andy Burnham discuss their book, Head North.

The conversation was relaxed and engaging, traversing subjects relevant to the Heseltine Institute's focus: devolution, regional inequalities, and connecting policy-making to local economies and communities. Here are my reflections.
