Reflecting on our financial sustainability story

Adele Taylor says that in a year when income, expenditure and support from central Government 'has never been more unpredictable and volatile, we ended up in a better position than we may have imagined'.

This week I spent time talking to myself on Zoom, all in the name of producing a short video for upcoming recruitment to our finance team. It is a great way to tell a story about Windsor & Maidenhead, especially the journey we have been on since we asked the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy to review our financial governance during 2019-20, and to personally reflect on what has changed since presenting an action plan to that review just over a year ago.

Dealing with a global pandemic aside, it has been an extremely busy year, with improvements to be made to ensure there is greater clarity and transparency around our financial health and sustainability.
