The release of the Charities Act

Sir Stephen Bubb looks at the release of Lord Hodgson's review of the Charities Act, and finds it to be impressive and wide-ranging.

Last week saw Lord Hodgson publish his long-awaited review of the Charities Act – a wide-ranging and impressive piece of work.

Importantly, Lord Hodgson recognises that the strength of the third sector lies in its variety, independence and capacity for innovation. He ‘values diversity over neatness', and backs the judgment of trustees as the best people to take decisions on a charity's future.
