Repairing a broken system

The voluntary scheme for sharing responsibility for the care of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children is widely seen as failing. What needs to change? Dan Peters reports.

Duong from Vietnam is one of many victims of human trafficking whose stories largely go untold. He was one of the lucky ones. He managed to escape.

Duong turned up at Paddington police station in London in 2016 and is now in the care of Westminster City Council. Now he is determined to do well academically and is currently studying A-level maths and GCSEs at sixth form with a view to going to university, while volunteering in his spare time in a charity shop to develop his English.
