Reports warns welfare reforms could create 'poverty trap'

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation report,says many people in work will be worse off when Universal Credit reforms are introduced.

Many people in work will be financially worse off when Universal Credit replaces means-tested benefits and tax credits, according to a new report from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF).

The research, by Inclusion and the University of Portsmouth, found that reforms to the welfare system could leave many people in work struggling to deal with a more complex benefits system and could actually create a 'poverty trap'.
