Funding cuts continue to dominate the local council agenda and last week’s announcement of 2015/16 funding grants will provide little by way of either surprise or respite to England’s local authorities, writes Andrew Jepp.

Funding cuts continue to dominate the local council agenda and last week's announcement of 2015/16 funding grants will provide little by way of either surprise or respite to England's local authorities. 

While an average cut of 1.8% in and of itself may not be catastrophic, it's the cumulative impact of systemic funding cuts over several years that presents such a challenge for today's councils.
