Local government should seize control of the devolution agenda by cooperating to deliver a single deal to the chancellor next month, one of the sector's most influential voices has suggested.

Writing for The MJ, president of the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE), Mark Rogers, suggested the sector was yet again ‘missing an important trick' as councils lurched towards George Osborne's September deadline.
