Time for some new school thinking?

At a recent The MJ round table, council chief executives and senior managers met to discuss the role of local government in schools and the changing landscape of the education system. Dan Peters reports.

Around the country, schools have been forced to scrap courses, increase class sizes and cut back on trips as a result of a funding crisis.

The situation means that, as in previous years, a key General Election battleground was education, education, education.
