Scottish councils' improvements 'stalling'

Spending on culture and leisure, economic development, and roads all fell by around a quarter last year, according to a study.

Scottish councils' spending on culture and leisure, economic development, and roads have all fallen by around a quarter, according to a study published today.

Cuts were made to protect expenditure in education and care, which accounted for more than 70% of spending in 2018/19, according to the Improvement Service's National Benchmarking Overview Report.
