Let's work as one sector on fair funding

Jill Penn says we're nearing the time when we will be discussing the next part of the fair funding debate with our county colleagues. Her hope is that we can continue to work as one sector - and with a clear focus on our residents

The provisional local government settlement was finally announced on 13 December. We heard about New Homes Bonus, business rates and negative revenue support grant, along with the 2019/20 business rates pilots.

While this exercised my district colleagues' minds at our recent Society of District Council Treasurers' AGM and conference, the agenda was also packed with a number of other challenges to the way we are held accountable as Section 151 officers.
