I believe good homes are a key component of our general health and wellbeing; living somewhere well designed and suitable for our needs can help people to successfully live independently and manage their health. Having a place to call home means being part of a community where setting people up for success and living in thriving neighbourhoods are the cornerstone of healthy lives and a more productive society.

Newcastle has a strong record of responding to and preventing homelessness and we achieve this by providing support to our residents tailored to their individual needs. Our anti-poverty strategy sets out our commitment to make the prevention of homelessness everybody's responsibility. We create pathways for groups of people at risk of homelessness such as care leavers, people in hospital and people coming through the main asylum route.
