Local identity matters, and councils should reflect this in their services and online presence, Ipsos MORI chief writes.

Our latest survey for the BBC has some interesting findings.  The British are becoming both more global – and more local. In contrast they report their sense of connection with the rest of the UK as weakening.

While the Scots (74%) and the Welsh (78%) report a strong sense of belonging to their nations, the English do not – only 37% of us feel England is part of our identity.
