Latest figures this week showing the soaring number of job vacancies coupled with declining public sector pay have highlighted the recruitment and retention crisis facing the local government sector.

Latest figures this week showing the soaring number of job vacancies coupled with declining public sector pay have highlighted the recruitment and retention crisis facing the local government sector.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics showed the largest increases in job vacancies between January and March were in health and social care, with a record 215,500 unfilled positions.
