Isle of Wight Council's social care chief has said a local incident where vulnerable people could have been left without care highlights the ‘unprecedented' pressures happening across the country.

Speaking on the BBC Radio 4 Today programme, director of social care and housing Dr Carol Tozer said council teams had to mobilize quickly a week ago after receiving notification that evening from a provider that they were unable to provide care to 25 people due to a lack of carers.
