Post-election rhetoric of ‘levelling up' areas of northern England by the Government has caused concern among councillors in the south-east.

While agreeing that some areas have been ‘left behind' Prime Minister Boris Johnson's administration was urged not to ignore other parts of the country at a meeting of South East England Councils, which represents 74 authorities in the region.
